

Joseph graduated from Dimondale High School and earned an associate degree from Lansing Community College. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his service, Joseph built a successful career, working at Michigan National Bank before retiring from General Motors after 31 years of dedicated service.
On July 7, 1973, Joseph married Joann Hutting (Spagnuolo) at the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing. Together, they shared many cherished years until her passing. Joseph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found joy in giving back to his community. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, Volunteers of America, and Tri-County Office on Aging’s Meals on Wheels program.
Joseph is survived by his children, Angela Pena (Mark) and Robert Hutting (Tara Rial), as well as his beloved grandchildren, Victoria and Gianna Pena. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Florence; his wife, Joann; and his siblings Mary, Martha and Paul.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Independence Village of East Lansing and Burcham Hills for their compassionate care.
Joseph will be remembered for his dedication to family, community service, and unwavering kindness. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
