Joyce I Miller

Born March 12, 1930, in Lansing, Michigan to Nona and Elza McDonald.Graduate of Lansing Sexton High School Class of 1947.

Married August 26, 1950, to Thomas Dean Miller, who predeceased her in 1998 after 48 years of marriage.

Died February 28, 2023, in Buchanan, Michigan just two weeks shy of her 93rd birthday.

Mother of two daughters, Patricia Jean and Barbara Lynn.

Grandmother to Nicholas Varnes, Courtney Huth and Gregory Varnes.

Great grandmother to Austin, Rhea and Aubrey Varnes as well as Nolan, Gavin, Caleb and Conrad Huth.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was predeceased by daughter Barbara and her only sister, Opal McDonald VanDuren.

Survived by her daughter Patricia, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lansing.

Enjoyed her flower gardens, golf, travel up north and to Florida with Tom, church activities, and most of all, her family. The McDougald reunions and Tuesday lunches were special favorites.

Worked as a dental assistant for several years, then found her niche, the gift shop at McLaren Hospital (formerly Ingham Medical) where she enjoyed her customers as well as buying trips to Northville to purchase items to sell in the shop.

When her physical limitations necessitated a move to Buchanan to allow her to be close enough for her granddaughter Courtney to assist her, Joyce relished the opportunity to be near her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation and memory time will be Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 9am to 11am at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, followed by a Noon burial near her husband and daughter at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing.
