Judith C. Nyquist

Judith C. Nyquist, 77, of Okemos, Michigan, passed away July 6, 2014. She was born on August 25, 1936 in Marquette, Michigan to the late Frank and Mary Ann (Coyne) Santimore. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1954 and went on to receive her professional degree from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Judith worked as a registered nurse for over 35 years, providing compassionate care.

On December 28, 1958, Judith married Harold “Jim” Nyquist. She loved her family and cherished them dearly. Judith loved beautiful things and possessed a creative talent for a variety of crafts. She also had a strong belief in God and her Catholic faith. She will be greatly missed.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Nyquist; twin sister, Joan Ashland; and sisters, Helen Harwood, Frances Bohm, and Mary Ann Olson. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Harold “Jim” Nyquist; son, Jim (Shelly) Nyquist; grandchildren, Kelley (Aaron) Goldberg, Thomas (Ashley) Nyquist, and Katey (Brent) Balkema; great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Ellie, Lucas, Addison, and Reese; special nieces, Judith (Matt) McCarthy and Laurel Waidelich; and many beloved relatives and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
