Hilde was born in Hochlibin, Czech Republic on December 15, 1926. Her parents were Otto and Marie Kroner. Hilde attended fashion school in her late teens and then was able to leave war-torn Europe during WWII. She migrated to the United States via Germany, England, Windsor, Canada and Detroit. While there, she met and eventually married Ralph Wright from Lansing. Hilde and Ralph moved into their house which was a rental property owned by her father-in-law, Lawrence Wright. That home was where she lived the remainder of her life. Hilde took care of Ralph when he developed cancer in the early 1960's until his death in 1962. Hilde traveled extensively in her later years and loved taking care of her garden. The entire neighborhood received the benefits of her love of gardening.
Hilde is survived by her niece, Carol Parmenter of Missouri; great-niece Katie and her daughter Ayla of Northville, Michigan; great-niece Stephanie (husband Polivio) and their children, Cora and Andrew of Paris, France. Hilde had numerous friends in her neighborhood and will be missed by many.
Hilde was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph, a brother and infant sister, niece Sue Gesler (2021) of California, nephew Andy Wright (2014) and his wife Veronica (2025) of Northville, MI.
Visitation for Hilde will be on Sunday, April 19, 2-4 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 20 at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
A very special thank you to very good friends who helped her at the end of her life, both at home and her last days at StoryPoint Abbot Park. Their help, support and love are deeply appreciated.
