Larry Duane Cook

Larry Duane Cook, age 81, of Bath, Michigan, formally of Lansing passed away on Saturday November 16, 2019. Larry was born March 7, 1938 in Traverse City to the late Richard and Carlyn (Smith) Cook.
Larry was a 1956 graduate of Traverse City High School and a 1961 graduate of Ferris State University. He was an active member of Olivet Baptist Church where he married Deanna on October 16, 1965. He also served as the Church Treasurer for many years. He was an accountant for Oldsmobile/General Motors for thirty years, retiring in 1991. Larry's family was a priority in his life, especially his grandchildren; he enjoyed watching them in many school and sporting activities. Larry was also a big Michigan State University fan, especially basketball. He spent vacations watching the boats at Soo Locks with his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Deanna, brothers-in-law, Larry, Kenneth, Wesley and Mickey Dorin.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his two sons, Rick (Cathy) and Scott (Robin) Cook; grandchildren, Lori, Miranda, Nathan, and Zachary; sister, Judy (Larry) John; sisters-in-law, Sally Quirin and Elaine Dorin; brothers-in-law, Jim and Raymond Dorin; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI officiated by Pastor John Harris, Olivet Baptist Church and Pastor Ed Owens, retired Olivet Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00~8:00 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Larry to Olivet Baptist Church, 5455 W. Willoughby Rd, Lansing, MI 48911. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grlansing.com for the Cook family.

Thinking of all of you at this difficult time. I remember times Larry and Deanna were visiting in Traverse City and always stopped by to say "Hello." A Wonderful Couple who are now once more together in Heaven with The Lord. Love to All! Wilma Blood

We live next door to Mr. Cook, in Bath. Mr. Cook was such a pleasant gentleman to visit with. We will miss his smile and his positive outlook at life. RIP, Mr. Cook-

My cousin Larry was a great guy. I grew up under his and my brother's thumb. My brother Charles KEENAN and Larry we real Good friends. I used to tag along when they would let me. Larry loved cool cars. One of his favorite songs was Johnny Hortons Battle of New Orleans. Made lots of trips to TC.With him. He loved his Aunt Gerry my mom. We would come to picnics at Larry's when his mom Aunt Carlyn would come down. Wish I'd of stayed in touch over the years. Going to miss him. Lots of great memories. Bless you Larry.and prayers to the family.
