LaVerne Payne

Also known as "Twin 2", or Baw Baw, was born May 17, 1955 in Jackson, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her sister, LaVonne Thornton and nephew, Jamel Payne, grandmother, Anna Mae Payne, grandfather, John Payne. LaVerne went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the age of 52. She leaves to treasure her ;memory: daughters, India Parris of Maryland, Teleah Payne of Lansing and son, Willard Payne of Lansing; grandchildren, Willard Payne, Jr. Jada Yarborough, Sean Allen Grant and Laila Yarborough; mother, Vernita Payne of Lansing; sisters, Diana (Dennis) Parker of Jackson, Cherryl Sanders, Sharon Edwards, Leresa Edwards, Shawn Edwards; brother, Harvey (Monique) Edwards, all of Lansing; god-daughter, Mica Dean; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a great number of other relatives and friends, including a very special friend, who she called her 'sister", Loretta Pate. Visitation will be 6-8PM Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw, Lansing 48917. Funeral Services will be 12:00PM Monday, February 25, 2008 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S. MLK Blvd, Lansing 48915 with the Rev. Melvin T. Jones, officiating. Interment is Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Union Missionary Baptist Church in memory of LaVerne.
