

Loren "JD" Duane Dunham, age 83, of East Lansing, Michigan passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024. JD was born in Roscommon, Michigan at home on December 2nd, 1941, to Loren Dunham and Donelda “Leatham” Dunham. He was married to Helen Wing Montgomery on July 13th, 1991. He was previously married to Sally M. Patterson on June 24th, 1967.
JD served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966 with an E-4 rank. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from Michigan State University in December of 1970. He enjoyed a long career in sales and marketing.
In his early years, JD loved skiing, fishing, and hunting (with a known inoperable firearm). He loved to travel the world with his wife Wing and took pleasure in planning the details of each trip. JD spent most of his life in the Lansing area and frequented the former Roma bakery for his favorite pastries and sweets. JD was an outgoing, charismatic, humorous man who loved to talk. He loved to spend time out on his deck grilling and feeding his backyard squirrels. He devoted time in the summers to growing his vegetable garden with his friends Bill Payne and Bill Russell.
JD is survived by his wife Helen Wing Montgomery of East Lansing, son Kevin (Molly) Dunham of Mesick, son Carter (Jennie) Dunham of Leslie, step-daughter Jennifer Mitchell of Colorado, step-son Matthew Mitchell, step-mother Marldene Dunham and step-sisters Mary (Kent) Cherry of Davidson and Rose (Dan) Whaley of Cadillac, brother Jerry (Sue) Dunham of Cadillac, sister Linda (Scott) Sartorius of Texas, and his grandchildren Hannah, Addison, Jack, Cora, and Seth Dunham.
In accordance with JD’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and the family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date.
