

Manuel was married to the love of his life, Francisca (Gomez) Ortiz, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised ten children and built a legacy of love and family that spans generations.
Manuel worked for the railroad during his career and was known for his dedication to providing for his family. His life was defined by hard work, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. Manuel also had a deep love for the outdoors, finding peace and joy in walks through the woods. His connection to nature was a defining part of his life, offering him solace and inspiration. Known for his storytelling, Manuel often shared tales from his life experiences, captivating those around him with his vivid recollections and warm presence.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Francisca Ortiz; his son Carlos Ortiz; his great-granddaughter Cynthea Mireya Gonzales; his parents Emeterio and Maria Esther Ortiz; and his four brothers and six sisters.
Manuel is survived by his devoted children: Joe Manuel (Marta) Ortiz, Maria Esther (Antemio) Loredo, Oralia (Rićardo) Sanchez, Olga (Tomás) Davaloz, Juanita Guadalupe (Pedro) Cabrera, Marina (Cletis) Richardson, Yolanda Ortiz and her partner Joe, Migel Ortiz, and Elicia Ortiz and her partner Frank. He also leaves behind a remarkable legacy of 47 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren—with four more on the way—along with two cherished sisters-in-law, Susie Quesada and Eva Melos.

A visitation for Manuel will be held Monday, February 10, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm with a Rosary Service at 7:30 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 3815 S Cedar St, Lansing. The family will accept guests one hour prior to service. Following services, Manuel will be interred at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Carlos Antemio Panuco, Ricardo Sanchez III, Pedro Cabrera Jr., Matthew R. Richardson, Joe Mireles Jr. and Kameron Washington.
