Born September 4, 1915 in Ontario, Canada, to Arch and Ida Becker, passed away October 17, 2011 at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Rudolph Kwast in 1982. Surviving are sons, James (Nancy) and Lawrence (Judy) Kwast; 5 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Leola was an active member of Colonial Village Baptist Church for the past 80 years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also co-founded Kwast Bakery in Lansing. For those that remember the old radio ad, and as the old saying goes “Mrs. Kwast does the baking at our house”. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Colonial Village Baptist Church, 2010 Boston Blvd., Lansing with the Pastor H. Randolph Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing as well as 1 hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Colonial Village Baptist Church in memory of Leola.
