

Marilyn Jean Cater, was born to the late Marian Elizabeth Roller and Walter Otto Semrau, in Lansing Michigan, on April 14, 1940. Marilyn peacefully departed this life on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Eaton County Pallative Care Center. Marilyn grew up in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. Marilyn married her “High School Sweetheart”, Delbert Lee Cater on August 15, 1958, in Lansing where they started their family.
Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker. Marilyn volunteered many hours in the gift shop at Ingham Medical Center (McLaren Hospital) for 28 years. She loved to shop, going to craft shows, gardening, and collected elephants, beanie babies and birdhouses.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her grandson David James Lee Barkdull. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Delbert; children, Timothy (Susan) Cater, Kevin Cater, Lori Barkdull, Kristine (Jose) Oviedo, Scott (Tracy) Cater; sister. Carol Morrison; grandchildren, Amanda Cater, Benjamin Cater, Dylan (Lindsay) Cater, Tyler Cater, Mekenzie Cater, Courtney Cater, Michael (Jean) Odom, Amy Barkdull, Aaron Barkdull, Ashlyn Barkdull, and Allison Oviedo; great-grandchildren, Makayla Hostetler, Cole Cater, Nora Cater, and Willow Cater.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 W. Michigan Avenue, Lansing. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden at 4444 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing.
