Marilyn Ann Leonard of Lansing Michigan, went to be with our Lord Jesus on April 15th, 2012 at the age of 79.
Ma Leonard was born October 28th 1932 to Hershel and Mable Stanley of Lansing. Ma attended Eastern High School in Lansing. She continued her education at Michigan State University in East Lansing graduating in 1954 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical education. She taught high school physical education for 5 years and then later in life became involved in politics where she was an Ingham County Commissioner for several terms. Ma loved to help others and always had someone in need living in the spare bedroom. She volunteered with meals on wheels for a good part of her life and loved serving others. Ma enjoyed playing bridge and was a life master through the American Contract Bridge League. She also enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and cheering for her beloved Spartans. She is survived by her two children, Brian of Tulsa OK and Cass of Lansing, 4 grandchildren, John, Rachel, Cass jr. and Timothy, and 2 step grandchildren Pamela and Bill. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, John, they were married 48 years. In Lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Ma’s favorite charity Loaves and Fishes Ministries, 831 N. Sycamore St., Lansing, MI 48906, to help feed the homeless in memory of Ma Leonard. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
