AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Mary Ann Ellis

7 février 194427 avril 2021

Reverend Mary Ann Ellis was born on February 7, 1944 to Mr. C.P. and Benallean Curry in Gilmore Arkansas. Mary married John Lee Ellis and relocated to Lansing Michigan in 1965 in pursuit of building a better life and greater opportunities for her family. Mary was a life-long member of Mt. Olive Bible Believing Baptist Church (formerly known as Church of Compassion) under the Pastorate of Prophet Paul W. Garrett, Sr., where she served as a licensed Evangelist for many years before becoming an ordained Minister in the early 90’s.

She loved sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of those who came in contact with her. Mary loved all of her children and grandchildren whom she took great pleasure in nurturing and raising in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Mary enjoyed shopping, cooking, cleaning, babysitting, reading her bible, listening to great music (Lee Williams was her favorite), gardening, interior decorating, serving as God Mother to many, and ministering to the lost and broken hearted.

Mary was a glamorous and elegant “FASHIONISTA” who loved the finest garments and the wonderful fragrance of high-end perfumes. All heads would turn when she entered the room in expectation of what she would be wearing, and the fragrance of her choosing would always leave a beautiful sweet aroma noting her presence.

Mary was preceded in death by parents (C.P. and Benallean Curry); daughter (Darcel Curry); son’s (John Ellis and Brian Ellis); grandchildren (Dashara Moore, Imani Warren, Imari Warren, and P’Niese Warren); sister’s (Bernice Curry and Geraldine Kimble); brother (Edward Curry and Willie Curry); special friends (Rev. Eloise Blackman, 1st Lady Ruthie Garrett, and Ethel Norris).

Mary departed this life on Tuesday, April 27th. She leaves to cherish her memory, son’s: Anthony (Patricia) Lewis, and Christopher (Paulette) Brown; daughter’s: Claire Lacy, Demetricia Ellis, Rev. Patricia (Wayne) Coats, Andrea (John) Ndiaye, Marietta (Dennis) Johnson, Tonya Ellis, and Tamika Ellis; 48 grandchildren; a host great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother: Beau Curry; sister’s: Betty (Albert) Williams and Dorothy Curry; Special Niece: Marla (Edward) Gibson; God Children: LaShunda (John) Thomas, Renee Anthony, Delkisse Anthony, Yemora Williams, Janet Norris, Shonnie Kay, Shannon Robinson, and William Crenshaw, Jr.; Special Friends: Rev. Barbara Williams-Finley, Rev. Sarah Nick, Estella Williams, Jortencia Alvarez; and a host of family and friends.
