

Mary was born on November 16, 1945 in Cass County, MI to James Williams SR. and Dorothy Mae Suttles Williams. She was the youngest of nine children, living in Cassopolis, Parksville, and Jones, MI. In 1964, she graduated from Mendon High School in Mendon, MI. She attended Lansing Community College and retired from the Michigan Department of State after 36 years of dedicated service.
She married her love, Albert Lee Thrash, on January 19, 1967 and raised two children Terri Lynn Thrash and Michael Albert Thrash.
Mary had a big heart, always a giver. Her favorite charity was the Saint Joseph Indian School of South Dakota where she often sent items from their wish list and communicated by mail with the students over many years. She loved to laugh; working with her crafts, sewing, and quilting; blues and jazz concerts; casinos; and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Mary was a member of the Underground Railroad of Cass County and the Les Meres et Debutante Club of Greater Lansing, where Terri debuted in 1985.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter; brother, Cecil Williams and sister, Helen Meredith.
Mary leaves to cherish her many memories, her husband, Al; son, Michael; grandson, Michael Jah'le Thrash; siblings, James Williams Jr. (Vandalia), Ruth Christopher and Mae Warrick (Cassopolis), Dorothy Jones (Lansing), Thelma Curry (Elkhart, IN), and Nell Guy (East Lansing); sisters-in-law, Mary Ella Bentley and Mary Lee Pratt (Greenville, MS); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave., Lansing, Michigan 48912.
