Michael Alfred Bishop

Michael Alfred Bishop, born on August 30, 1939, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 15, 2022 peacefully in his home in Lansing, MI. He graduated from Saint Francis High School Seminary in 1958, and joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for 4 years before he was honorably discharged. Michael married his loving wife Margaret Rose Silva in 1963. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Accounting, he was a faithful worker for the State of Michigan for 30 years.

Mike and Meg raised their children Michael and Laura and resided in Lansing, MI. He was a devoted and long time member of Mount Hope Church where he served in the choir for a number of years. Michael loved playing softball, watching sports, tending to his lawn, singing, and square dancing.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Bishop, son Michael (Celeste) Bishop, son-in-law Tom Fox, his siblings and in-laws, Sally Bishop, Tom (Doris) Bishop, Theresa Casey, Angela Morse, Sue Poletti, Joe (Sallie) Bishop, Larry (Maureen) Bishop, Tony (Brenda) Bishop, Frank (Paula) Bishop, Gerard Bishop (life partner Ruthie), granddaughters, Christina (Rob) Gilreath, Marisa Bishop, great grandchildren Lenora, Avi, Luca, and Gianna Gilreath.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Marianne Bishop, his brother Peter Bishop, sister Janet Wallen, and daughter Laura Fox.

Visitation with the family will be held at Mount Hope Church, 202 S Creyts Rd. Lansing, MI on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:00am.

A celebration of Michael’s life will follow visitation at Mount Hope Church, 202 S Creyts Rd. Lansing, MI on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11:00 am with Robert Gilreath officiating.
