Mike graduated from Monsignor Gabriels High School in 1964. He met the love of his life, Jane Fox Quintieri, in elementary school, and they were married in 1965. He was devoted to Jane and his love for her was evident in everything he did. Together they raised four children. He will be remembered for his support of family and friends, his dry sense of humor, and, most of all, his ability to draw people in with his joking and teasing. Mike was a lifelong Michigan State Spartan fan who enjoyed puzzles, Sudoku and sweet treats.
Mike served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. After leaving the Marines, he became a licensed electrician in 1968. He worked as a union electrician in Lansing Local 655 for 16 years before joining General Motors in 1984, where he eventually retired from in 2008. He was a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the United Auto Workers Union (UAW). After retirement, he and Jane spent several winter months each year in Florida where they met friends from around the world.
One of Mike's passions was volunteer work. He donated his time to Catholic Charities for several years. After Hurricane Katrina, he traveled to New Orleans with a group from Lansing to help rebuild the city. He also volunteered at Meals on Wheels for many years.
Mike's true passion was his family. More than anything, he loved being Papa and cherished spending time with his nine grandchildren.
He is survived by Jane Fox Quintieri, his wife of 60 years; children, Maria (Len) Wolfe, Angela Quintieri (Paul Applegate), Frank (Debbie) Quintieri, and John (Chrissy) Quintieri; grandchildren, Matthew, Nate (Jessie) and Jack Wolfe, Henry and Leo Applegate, Michael and Sophia Quintieri, and Kaiya and Gigi Quintieri; siblings, Gloria (Bill) Beliew and Carol (Wayne) Thelen; and siblings-in-law: Joe (Pam) Fox, Ellen (Bob) Smith, and Judy (Mike) Leftwich. Mike was preceded in death by his siblings Tony Quintieri and Theresa Welch.
To honor Mike's life and legacy, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gerard Church, 4437 W. Willow Highway, Lansing, Michigan, on Friday November 21st at 1:30pm with visitation from 12:30 pm until the time of Mass. A reception will follow. The family will receive friends at the church hall on Thursday November 20 from 5-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice Services through the Sparrow Foundation. Please visit https://secure.qgiv.com/for/spaheasys and select Hospice Services as the charitable designee.
