Mildred Mary Puckett was born, January 19, 1926. Daughter of Arthur and Theodora (Weiland) Wieber.
Mildred was raised in a large German family on a Westphalia farm. She attended St. Mary’s School there, and as a young adult moved to Lansing. Her close work friend convinced Mildred to go to Little Rock, AR where she met her future husband, Floyd, at a bowling alley. He had just joined the Army. Mildred was not an avid bowler yet, and threw a lot of gutter balls, and Floyd gave her tips on the sport. Later, Mildred became a seasoned bowler, and had many trophies to show her love of bowling.
When Floyd went off to serve our country, she returned to Lansing during WWII and worked at the GM Forge Plant making artillery shells. She was a genuine “Rosie The Riveter.” Mildred’s best memory was marrying Floyd and later giving birth to her two sons, Dale and Mark. She was a home maker, spending her days bringing up her sons and gardening. She loved large amounts of flowers in her yard and especially roses. Her garden was full of Zinnias and every kind of vegetable you could imagine. Later when her boys were almost finished with their schooling, she taught herself how to type and then went to Lansing Community College to learn how to be a Data Coding Operator. When she completed her schooling, she went to work for the State of Michigan, Treasury Department for 15 years.
Mildred also enjoyed going to the movies at an early age which continued all her life. She loved Westerns and musicals. She knew all of the popular stars from the 1940s through the 1960s. She was a self-taught pianist. Mildred’s greatest love was her family and her church, St. Therese Catholic Church. She would often watch EWTN and greatly admired Mother Angelica.
Special thanks to the staff at Gunnisonville Meadows Assisted Living for all of the loving care they provided Mildred over the past several years. They made her life more enjoyable.

She is survived by her two sons, Dale (Michele) Puckett; Mark (Irene) Puckett; grandchildren Cory (Jake) Jackson; Kyle Puckett; Adam (Adrianne) Puckett; Alex Puckett; Vincent Montalvo; Jessica Montalvo; great grandchildren, Danny, Carter, and Carl.
