On April 14, 1948 Pamela was born in Lansing to her beautiful parents Corrine (Suska) and Cornelius Pettit. She spent most of her life living in the Lansing/Holt area with her four siblings. Pamela being the first born was the first of her siblings to graduate high school, graduating in 1966 from Everett high school. Pamela then started her first job working as a dispatcher for the Lansing police department. During that journey Pamela was blessed to welcome her one and only daughter into the world. While raising her daughter and working for the lansing school district she also went to LCC and received her associates degree in food management. Shortly after graduation she began her career working for the Lansing school district as cafeteria manager in which she retired from in 2006. While working at the School district Pamela gained a son-in law, and two grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. In 1999 Pamela met and married her Husband Randal Gilman at the First Assemblies of God in East Lansing where they belong to the congregation for 20 years. Pamela and Randy spent their married life living in Lansing.
Pamela was a member of Crossroads Assemblies of God, where she spent her Sunday mornings. She had many things that brought her joy; coloring, reading and crocheting. She loved shopping, spending time with her beloved dog Esther and most of all she loved camping with her family. She was the strongest person her family knew, she handled all her obstacles with faith and grace setting the perfect example of how to be a Woman of God. She was a tad bit bossy, but it added a little spunk to her full of life personality. Pamela was a very generous and giving woman, she always gave from her heart and expected nothing in return.
Pamela is survived by her Daughter Jacqueline ( Mike) Smith, her grandson Michael (McKenzie) Smith and granddaughter Nichole (Cory) Fisher and 1 great grandchild. Her siblings Denise Pettit-Williams and Timothy (Zina) Pettit. Her nephews Craig Williams, Cornelius Pettit and Noah Pettit.
Pamela is preceded in death by Randy Gilman (husband), Marylin Calhoun (sister), Neal Pettit (brother), and Joe Williams (Nephew).
Pamela’s final wish is that no one wears black to her celebration, she asks for everyone to wear bright colors.
