Pat was born June 10, 1944, in Lansing, MI to Lawrence McKenzie and Elizabeth ‘Jane’ (later McDougal). He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the bronze star for heroism. He went on to graduate from Michigan State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree, from there, he taught with Bath Community Schools for over 30 years. He was married to Marilyn ‘Rande’ for over 40 years. Together, they raised their family in Lansing while spending their summers in Pentwater, Michigan.
Pat was an avid sports fan and was a true Spartan for life – Go Green! He loved animals and thrived in nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing—especially in the Pentwater Channel with his grandson. Pat was at-home at the cottage, especially around the campfire telling jokes and stories and spending time with his family and friends. His carefree nature will be forever missed.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence McKenzie and Elizabeth ‘Jane’ (later McDougal), infant son, Shawn Michael McKenzie, spouse Marilyn (Rande), and siblings Michael (Patsy) McKenzie, Christine McDougal Davis, John (Sherry) McKenzie and David (Gretchen) McKenzie. He is survived by his daughter, Heather McKenzie, son William (Arynne) McKenzie, grandson Ryver, siblings Mary McDougal, Charlene McKenzie Bathurst, and Teresa McKenzie and many beloved nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
