Richard M. Hall

Richard (Dick) M. Hall passed away quietly October 28, 2014, at the age of 84. He left his children and grandchildren two years after the passing of the love of his life and wife of 57 years - Mary Lou (Miller) Hall. Dick was born on August 21, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the third son of A. Roy and Dorothy (Entriken) Hall, and has lived in Lansing and DeWitt, Michigan for the past 42 years.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Bill and Bob, and wife Mary Lou. He is survived by his loving children: Karen L (David) Hunsaker, Richard Stephen (Amber) Hall, Cynthia S. (Mitchell) Maher, Thomas A. (Lesley) Hall; and grandchildren Madeline and Mark Hunsaker, Richard and Nicholas Maher, and Brianna and Nathanael Hall.

Dick was in sales all his life, ending his career in the '80's as branch manager of a Lansing office for A.M. Brunning; he also served in the Army in the early '50's. Dick's passion was his family. He loved to laugh, play golf, fly box-kites, tinker - he could fix anything - and to take road trips with Mary. Were there an award for packing, he would have taken the gold. He especially loved to be at the beach, his most favorite being Ocean City, NJ, spending much of his youth (both as a kid and an adult) there. Dick had a well-equipped workbench, with a preponderance to work miracles with duct tape on lost cause projects. He was always the bright spot in the room, where laughter, positivity, kindness, and self-reliance radiated. Dick was the cornerstone in the lives of his children.

Dick will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of a memorial service, Dick has requested that his ashes be mixed with Mary's and spread off the beach where they made some of their fondest memories.
