Richard was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Arthur P. and Martha A. Maidlow.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Meyne Maidlow; his children, Jeffrey Maidlow (Lisa), Debra Maidlow-Leese, Terry Thomas, Tina Thomas Wilkinson, and Aaron Thomas (Yucel); and will be greatly missed by his brothers, James and John (Judy); his sisters, Mary Ellen Maidlow and Katie Noirot (George); and his 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Kenneth, and daughter Judy.
Dick graduated from J. W. Sexton High school and briefly attended Michigan State University before entering the U.S. Army in 1958. In 1960, he enjoyed a 2-year adventure in California after being honorably discharged from the military.
Upon returning to Lansing, he worked as a salesman for Business Machines Company, then became co-owner and operating manager of Affordable Self Storage until retiring in 2017.
He enjoyed extensive travel with family and friends, including Caribbean cruises and winters spent in Florida over the past several years. Dick's love and enthusiasm for his family was boundless, and his tremendous personality will be sadly missed by his many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 from noon to 2pm, with a memorial service following at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw St. Lansing, MI 48917. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 and the Lansing Food Bank, 2116 Mint Rd, Lansing, MI 48906 .
