

He served in the U.S. Air Force before settling in Lansing, Michigan. He was a past member of Lansing Jaycees then joined the Lansing Kiwanis Club in 1973. He was past president of the Downtown Lansing Kiwanis Club and recipient of the prestigious Hixson Fellowship Award. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus through St. Casimir Church, and an active volunteer for RSVP at the Lansing Airport information booth. Richard owned his own business, Skinner Advertising Specialties with his wife Carolyn for 31 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Heller); his children, Elizabeth Crosby, Katherine (Paul) Palmiter, and Rachel (Chad) Miller; seven grandchildren, Robert, Edward, Jacob, Carter, Lucas, Auston and Matylina; sisters, Virginia Kadel and Ruby (Phil) Straub; plus many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw Hwy, Lansing from 4-7pm Friday, February 3rd and at St. Gerard Church one hour prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am Saturday, February 4, 4437 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing with Father David Fons and Deacon Jim Corder presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may bemade to St. Vincent DePaul at St. Gerard (4437 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917) or Lansing Kiwanis Club Endowment Fund (c/o Ray Easton, P.O. Box 27185, Lansing, MI 48909).
