Born in Lansing on May 3, 1964, Robby later moved to Cadillac and proudly served in the military before attending Ferris State University. Over the years, he lived in various parts of Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula, before ultimately returning to Lansing, where he attended Lansing Community College.
Robby was a devoted family man and a man of many talents—woodsman, fisherman, firearms enthusiast, outdoor writer, mechanic, sales manager, and an industrial ammonia refrigeration technician. He spent 24 years working for Meijer Distribution, where he was involved in safety management and hazardous material emergency response.
He loved nothing more than being outdoors. Robby was an avid hunter, angler, and camper who believed in conservation and supported organizations like Trout Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He founded the online group Great Lakes Salmon and Steelhead Anglers United, where he mentored countless others in the sport he loved.
Whether he was tying flies, making custom arrows, collecting lures, or reloading ammunition, Robby was always sharing his knowledge and passion. He valued the sanctity of the outdoors and inspired others to live a life "you can hang your hat on." He also studied martial arts, had a deep love of Michigan history, and enjoyed barbecuing, a good whiskey, and spending time at deer camp with his beloved chocolate lab.
Robby lived with purpose—working hard, playing hard, and always putting his family first. To him, nothing was too good for the people he loved.
He is survived by his father, Ronald Axline; stepmother, Maddie Axline; his wife, Kendra; his four children: Michael, Joshua, Christopher, and Marissa; and four grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, resilience, and deep appreciation for nature.
A celebration of Robby’s life will be held at the family home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trout Unlimited in his honor.
In the wise words of Robby “Bad Karma” Axline: Keep steppin’.
