Age 91, Went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2015 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born on November 18, 1923 in Lansing, MI to John and Agatha Newman. He has been a member of South Baptist Church since 1933. He loved fastpitch softball, hunting, the outdoors, and swimming. He was a devoted Tiger's baseball fan.

Robert was preceded in death by his wives Rebecca (Mathews) Newman, Lemo Jean (Caplinger) Newman, siblings Arnold Newman, Mary Lou Lawrence, and Norma Killila. He is survived by daughter Michelle (Michael) Datema, grandchildren Rebecca (Mark) Noffke, Erin (Ryan) Moseley, great grandchildren Brady Noffke and Kylin Moseley, sisters Ruth Kirchen and Betty Greenlee.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, MI 48917. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Great Lakes Christian Home, 2050 Washington Rd, Holt, MI 48842 with visitation one hour prior to service. There will be a luncheon at South Church, 5250 Cornerstone Dr., Lansing, MI 48917 at 11:30 following service. Interment will be at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing, MI at 1:30 P.M. following lunch.
