Robert (Bob) Leroy Reid left us to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 23, 2018. Now he is rejoicing in heaven with that great cloud of witnesses that have gone on before him. So though we miss him terribly, we do not sorrow as those who have no hope.
Bob was born in 1930 in Hastings, Michigan, and attended Nashville High School near there. After graduating he entered the U.S. Navy and served on an aircraft carrier. His college career included courses at Western Michigan and Central Michigan Universities, and he obtained his degree from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.
Before embarking on his life's calling as a Bible teacher, he worked for several years at Southern California College, now Vanguard University, as athletic director and head basketball coach. He also led summer missions teams for Youth With A Mission in the 1960's.
While working in California, Bob began part-time ministry as an evangelist in Los Angeles and surrounding areas, ministering in hundreds of churches. In 1972 he moved back to Michigan and continued in ministry full time as an evangelist and teacher. In 1976 Bob founded Faith Tech Ministries and International Bible Schools, which he has been directing until now. The college-level Bible classes are taught free of charge throughout the world, as well as online.
Bob is well known and loved as a dynamic Bible teacher. His desire has consistently been to teach others the full gospel truths of the Bible so they can re-teach them. Many lives have been touched by his example of humility, faith and obedience to the Lord coupled with his humor and joy in living life with Jesus.
Bob leaves behind his wife, Karen; daughter, Meagan (Jason) Scott; daughter, Lisa Reid; and son, Theodore (Vivian) Reid. He is preceded in death by daughter, Leigh (Dallas) Coryell; daughter, Danielle (Tom) White; and brother, Don (Dorothy) Reid. Many grandchildren , great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews will be greatly missing him, as well.
Well done, good and faithful servant! You have entered into the joy of the Lord for eternity.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 1:00pm at Mt. Hope Church 202 S. Creyts Rd. Lansing Michigan 48917.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Robert's name to Missions or Bible distribution.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel.
