

Lansing, MI Formerly of Gaylord, MI
Born January 13, 1934 in Gaylord, MI, the son of Cecil and Helen (Campbell) Coultes, passed away March 20, 2012 at the age of 78. Mr. Coultes served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, retiring after 35 years from the Army Reserves as Command Sergeant Major. He was employed with Gladstone’s Flooring, Inc. retiring after 40 years of service. Mr. Coultes served on the Gier Advisory Board, along with his wife, for many years and enjoyed the time at the ballpark. The new gym at the Gier Center is named after Ron and his late wife, Rose to honor their many years of service to the community. He was an avid Spartan and Tiger fan and loved attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events. Most of all he loved puttering around up north, and spending time with his family. Surviving to cherish his memory are daughters, Karen (Bernard) Nagengast, Julie Coultes, and Nancy (Dale) Goerge; sons, Randy Coultes and Keith Coultes; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Margie Smith, Barbara (Bill) Hansen and Sue Kahl (George); brothers, Dave (Shirley) Coultes and Jon Coultes; sisters-in-law, Irene Borowiak, and Polly Switalski; brother-in-law Frank (Mary) Latuszek; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Rose and brother, Bob Coultes. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center St., Gaylord, MI 49734. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI and again on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Nelson Funeral Home, 134 N. Center St., Gaylord, MI 49734.
