On August 11th, 2025, Rosemarie “Rosie” Phillips, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away. Rosie was born May 24, 1933 in Akron, Ohio. Rosie married Frank Phillips Sr. on July 17th, 1954, and together they raised 4 children. She spent most of her working years taking care of the most important thing – her family. Rosie was an exceptional cook, seamstress, artist, golfer and one of the kindest people you would ever meet. She was a hugger…enjoyed giving them as much as getting them. Throughout her life, she volunteered on many charities – Festival of Trees and LPGA were two of her favorites.
Sadly, she lost her husband of 65 years in 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Nancy Fragola, in addition to her brothers Nunzio and Albert Fragola. Surviving are her daughters Nancy (Paul) Hillegonds, Cathy (Bill) Kirby, Sally (John) Durfee and son Frank (Andrea) Phillips Jr; 10 grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Nana, and to whom she adored and had special relationships with each; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Story Point (formerly Provision Living) Memory Care Unit for the wonderful care she received the past three years and to CorscoCare Hospice nurses for their skilled and tender care in Rosie’s last days of life.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 18th, 2025, at 11 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 3815 S. Cedar Street, Lansing. The family will gather on Monday for a visitation at church beginning at 10 AM until service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CorsoCare Hospice, 950 Corporate Office Dr., Ste. 150, Milford, MI 48381 (please click on the link below to visit their website).
