Ruby Lynn Cudney

Ruby Lynn Cudney of Lyons, Michigan, passed away at home peacefully at the age of 66, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Born on October 7, 1954 to Virginia & Manuel Gutierrez, Jr. in Lansing, Michigan. Ruby grew up in Lansing with her 4 younger siblings, Manuel, III, Joseph, Patricia, and John.

She became a mother on October 20, 1972 with the birth of her daughter, Evangelina “Angel” and again on February 17, 1976 with the birth of her son, Antonio “Tony.”

Ruby was an employee of General Motors Local 602 of Lansing before retiring after 27 years, but not before meeting her now husband, Algurt Cudney. Ruby and Al were married on May 17, 1986 after having known each other previously for 5 years. This year they celebrated their 35th year of marriage filled with years of love and happiness.

After retirement, Ruby and Al loved to go up north and take the boat out on the lake, as well as spending time and loving their grandchildren. Ruby loved spending time with her family. She loved to play Bingo, and absolutely loved taking pictures and having pictures of everyone. Ruby was loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed and always remembered.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Manuel Jr. and Virginia Gutierrez; mother and father-in-law, Patricia Cudney and Maitland Cudney; and daughter, Stacy Cudney.

Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Algurt Cudney; children, Evangelina Gutierrez, Antonio Ortiz, Jennifer Hampshire, Algurt (Tammy) Cudney, Jr., Melinda Oakes, and Brandy Morey. 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; 1 sister; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service at Gorsline Runciman Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visitation Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m.
