Russell Anthony Allswede

Age 58, our loving father, grandfather, companion, son, brother and uncle passed away on September 25, 2016. Born November 26, 1957, in Lansing, MI, Russell enjoyed a long career with the telecommunications and networking field. He began his career climbing telephone poles and went on to develop networks across the country. Most recently, he helped create a successful fiber optic cabling department and built 800 miles of fiber across four states. But, he could still be seen in a bucket truck.

While he was proud of his work, Russell was most proud of his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He is survived by his mother Antoinette; significant other, Linda Deeds; 5 children Antoinette "Toni" (Neal) Feldpausch, Rusty (Lauren), Larry (Stacey), Tim (Michele Weston) Allswede, and Rose Allswede; 8 grandchildren Jayce, Evan, Anna, Alice, Susie, Russell, Danielle and Miriam; and siblings Sue (Rob) Early, Debi (Jerry) Smalley, Catherine (Dave) Babcock, Robbie (Walt) Steele, Becky, Kenny (Kay), Jennifer (Rob Clegg), Jan (Rich) Robbins, and Trisha (Brandt) Terrell, as well as many other beloved family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Debra Sue "Susie" Allswede; brother Timothy Allswede; and his father, Kenneth Allswede.

Russell was best at making people feel important and loved. In his honor, please give your undivided attention, love unconditionally, and enjoy a warm cup of coffee. Contributions can also be made to St. Therese Food Bank or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday with a sharing of memories at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, MI. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 29, 2016, at St. Therese Church, 102 W. Randolph, Lansing, MI with Deacon David Borzenski officiating.
