Shirley "Bonnie" A. Gilson

Shirley “Bonnie” Ann Gilson passed away on January 1, 2021 in Lansing, Michigan. She made her way into this world on April 22, 1925 in Lansing to Anthony and Beryl (Schram) Sinke at only 2 ½ lbs, but never did her small stature ever slow her down during her 95 years of life.

Bonnie loved to learn new things, even trying cardio drumming at her home at Bickford of West Lansing. She was devout in her faith, attending Bible studies at Bickford consistently. She loved her family and always found ways to stay in touch, especially over the past year. Bonnie worked at an early age at the Market Basket food market and then took time off to raise her family. She later worked for various produce stands until spending several years at Van Houten Produce where she loved the customers, staff, and especially making fruit baskets during the holidays. She loved picking up agates on Lake Superior with her family. She was a collector of many things and loved decorating for the holidays.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Gilson, in 2012; her parents; and her siblings Billy, Dale, Robert and Betty.

Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her, especially her children, Lori (Steven) Fruk and Michael (Yolanda) Gilson; Grandchildren Michaelle, Danielle, Joe and Great Grandchildren Ayden and Lilliana. several nieces and nephews as well as the staff and residents of Bickford West Lansing.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 3:30pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing, to be officiated by Pastor Coye Bouyer with visitation from 2:30pm until 3:30pm. Social distancing and masks are required. Limited to 25 people in the room including immediate family and pastor.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie's honor in lieu of flowers to Bickford West Lansing, 6429 Earlington Lane, Lansing, MI 48917 in memory of Bonnie Gilson for enriching the lives and happiness of the seniors.
