

Shirley Irene (Bachi) Harris, who was born on January 27, 1918 in Milton Township, passed away on January 1, 2010. She grew up in the Elk Rapids area where she graduated from High School. She went on to attend the Louis Chapman Business School in Traverse City and was employed as a dental assistant before marrying Charles D. Harris on April 9, 1944. Besides being a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her treasured friends and her large extended family. For almost 47 years, Shirley was an active member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church of Lansing ? singing in the choir, serving on the Alter Guild, and helping out with Church Bizarres and funeral luncheons. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harris; parents Amil and Floy Bachi; son-in-law Pierre DuVall; by four sisters and two brothers. Surviving are three children, Nancy DuVall, Joan Schultz and Ronald Harris; two grandchildren Bethany and Jeffrey Schultz; sister Marjorie Paradis; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be from 11:00 ? 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 2900 N. Waverly, Lansing, followed by a service at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Gary Bunge officiating. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ?Home Sweet Home?
