Lansing
Age 84, our loving mother passed away April 13, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Born October 9, 1932 in Lansing, MI, where she grew up. Shirley attended M.S.U. as an English major. She was an operator at Michigan Bell before focusing on caring for her family and raising her sons. Later, she went to work in the Treasury Department at the State of Michigan and retired after 29 years of service. She enjoyed her many pets and making crafts. She was a volunteer for many organizations. She loved to dance, and it was during her college years at a dance she meet her future husband, Leo Sapila.
Surviving are her 3 sons, Mark Sapila, Bill (Marilyn) Sapila, and David (fiancée. Pamela Lamond) Sapila. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Leo Sapila in 2001, and her parents, Perry & Rose Moses.
