Born February 2, 1926, passed away on April 27, 2012 at the age of 86. Upon graduating from high school, Shirley was employed by Michigan State Police, secretary for an accounting firm, retiring from Michigan Bell Telephone Company in 1985.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert B. after 65 years of marriage and a son, Jack. Survivors are a son, James and daughter-in-law, Mary; sister, Phyllis Twelves and several nieces and nephews.
To respect her wishes, there will be a graveside service Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Deepdale Memorial Gardens with Pastor Richard Stacy officiating. Arrangements by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing.
Shirley was a strong supporter of the mentally impaired. All donations can be made to Mulliken AIS Home, P.O. Box 245 Mulliken, MI 48861 in memory of Bob and Shirley Shafer. Shirley will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her kindness and love.
