Shirley Alberta Young

Flint, Michigan

Age 93, passed away April 24, 2015. Shirley was born to John R. Sr. and Nila (Dilleree) Palmatier on August 11, 1921.

Shirley met her husband of 57 years, Leonard M. Young, while he was in the military at a dance. They lived in Lansing while he worked at Fisher Auto Body. The last few years found Shirley in Flint near her siblings.

Throughout her life Shirley loved to sing and continued her love of entertaining while at assisted living by holding annual Christmas neighborhood parties.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael L. Young; siblings, Charles Palmatier, Kaye O’Neil, Nila ‘Dolly’ Spence, John ‘Jack’ (Audrey) Palmatier.

Left to cherish her memory are siblings, Shirley Kelly, Richard (Doris) Palmatier, Larry (Ruth) Palmatier; grandchildren, Samantha Britton, Jeffrey (Michelle) Young, Jodi Barton; great-grandchildren, Justin Young, Mason Barton, Tatum Barton, Tyler Young, Ava Young; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 4444 W. Grand River Avenue, Lansing, MI, 48906, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:00 am.
