Sondra Lee Loveland has gone to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior. Sondra passed peacefully with her loving family present on July 2, 2024, three days after reaching her 85th year on Earth. She valiantly battled dementia in her final years.
Sondra was born on June 29, 1939 to Preston and Edna Rapelje in Lansing, Michigan. She was the second of five siblings. After graduating from Sexton High School, she married the love of her life, Arthur Junior Loveland and headed to Utah where Art served in the Air Force and Sondra worked on the base. When they returned to Michigan, they moved into a house in the same neighborhood in which she grew up. They lived in that neighborhood for the remainder of their lives. She gave birth to three children whom she loved dearly and who loved her deeply, Steven (Susan), Cheryl Cole and Lisa (Michael) Spearman. She remained home to raise and care for her children. Once they were older, Sondra worked for the Salvation Army before taking a job with the State of Michigan. Sondra truly enjoyed camping, square dancing and sewing. Before retiring Sondra and Art purchased a cottage on Floyd Lake where they loved entertaining their family and friends. She and Art liked to travel with her siblings and dearest friends. They visited both Rapelje, Montana and Loveland, Colorado. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Sondra was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur and her brother, Thomas. She is survived by her children; grandchildren; three siblings, Barbara Lockwood, Patricia Debolt and Craig Rapelje (Linda); mother-in-law, Jane Loveland of Arizona and multiple nieces and nephews.
Graveside service scheduled for August 10th, 2024 at 12 PM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 4444 W. Grand River Ave. Lansing, MI 48906.
