Stephen J. Griffin

Stephen J. Griffin, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Lansing, Michigan. He was born to Martin and Marie (Sheehan) Griffin on June 30, 1945 in Lansing, and after graduating from high school, Stephen joined the United States Marine Corps. Once his service to his country was completed, Stephen worked for Pacific Finance before becoming a master mechanic at Sawyers Pontiac, and later, at Glenn Buege Buick.

A proud veteran, he was a former member of the Haslett American Legion as well as an active member of the Voiture 946 40 et 8. He spent many hours volunteering with the 40 et 8, working on their signature train. When he wasn’t volunteering, he enjoyed golfing in his spare time.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Griffin.

He will be remembered by his two sons, Robert and Sean Griffin, and his many cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 2pm until 4pm and again from 6pm until 8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing, with Military Honors to be accorded.
