It’s hard to put into words what she meant to us, but we are so grateful for the years we had with her and the love she gave so freely.
Tonya was born on January 27, 1974, in Lansing, Michigan, to Thomas Anderson and Kathryn (Anderson) Munchbach.
She was one of the strongest people we knew. No matter what life threw at her, she faced it. Even when she was scared or shaking, she pushed through. She didn’t quit. She showed up. That strength shaped her family more than she probably ever realized.
She would give the shirt off her back to help someone. She loved deeply and without conditions. And if you ever heard her laugh, you know. It was contagious. When she laughed, everyone else did too.
She enjoyed diamond painting, crocheting, and she loved dolphins. But what she loved most was being with her family. She loved playing in the pool with her grandkids, spending time together, and just being surrounded by the people she loved. That was where she was happiest.
She is survived by her life partner, Billy Wallace; her children Staci (David) Arnold, Chelsey Pendell, Karli (Andrew) Cook, Shawna Ripley, and Ashley Mooneyham; her grandchildren Mara, Alivia, Layla, Aubrianna, Oliver, Aaliyah, Isaac, Lucas, Elianna, Arlo, Oaklen, Antonio, Evangeline, Aria, Everly, and Vivianna; and her siblings Coetta (Bruce) Davis, Peggy (Adam) Hunter, and Joseph Sanders. She also leaves behind extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn (Anderson) Munchbach; her father, Thomas Anderson; her brother, Mark Sanders; and her sister, Julie (Anderson) Mooneyham.
A celebration of Tonya’s life will be held on February 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at West Lansing Church of Christ, 5505 W. St. Joseph Highway, Lansing, MI 48917.
We find peace in knowing she is no longer in pain and is in the presence of the Lord she trusted. We will miss her every day. Her strength, her love, and her laughter will stay with us always
