Vera Belle Wood

Vera graduated Eastern High School in 1942. She worked as a telephone operator and then went to work for the State of Michigan until retirement from the Travel and Tourism Department. After retirement Vera has been an active member of the State Employees Retirement Association (SERA).

Her hobbies included organizing group trips, Bingo, volunteering, assisting friends and neighbors to appointments and support person to those in need. In the past she enjoyed camping with her late mother Ruth and Sister Eileen. The three camped frequently at the State campground in Harrison Michigan. They visited this location so frequently that fellow campers and staff knew them as “The Golden Girls”.

She is preceded in death by her Father Clarence Warren and Mother Ruth (Holleron) Warren, Son Roger Hughes, Brother Clare Warren, Sisters Eileen Brigham, Billie Ann Roosa. Survived by one younger Sister Bernice Ramsey, a Granddaughter, Grandchildren, and many loving Nieces, Nephews Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

Memorial Services for Vera Belle Wood will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday February 25, 2015 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 East Michigan Avenue, Lansing, Michigan 48912. Burial will follow in the Glendale Cemetery, 2500 Mt Hope Road, Okemos Michigan 48864. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad, Corbin, Gus, Jacob, Patrick and Tommy. Memorial donations may be sent to the Shiawassee Humane Society 2752 West Bennington Road, Owosso Michigan 48867.
