Vernetta Rachel Flewelling

Vernetta Rachel Flewelling, 76, of Haslett passed on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Sparrow Hospital. Vernetta was born September 18, 1945 in Lansing Michigan to Veryl Nelson and Juanita Baker.

Vernetta was the matriarch of her family. Her kind, gentle soul made her a natural caretaker to all – especially those in need. She loved to cook for her family and friends – often taking meals to her neighbors and organizing parties and chili cook-offs in her retirement community. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and crocheting. She took great pride in crocheting blankets for every baby born to family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of almost 60 years Roger. Together they built a life that included four children: Annette (Scott) Litwiller, Roger (Becky) Flewelling, David Flewelling Sr., Les (Missy Decker) Flewelling. Her grandchildren: Trent Litwiller, Tara (Eric) Bell, David (Rachel) Flewelling, Dylan (Jessica) Flewelling, Kylie (Andrew Kirby) Flewelling, Elizabeth, Rachel, Alana and Autumn Flewelling. Her great-grandchildren: Lexi Litwiller, Sierra Bell, Alden, Lilly and Elijah Flewelling. She is also survived by her brother Buster (Rita) Nelson; brother in law Pete Flewelling and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Vernetta was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Roxie, and sister in laws Rosemary and Janice.

Our hearts are broken and she will be greatly missed until we meet again.
