

Vonda Sue Combs, 69, was born in Lansing on September 7, 1951 to Fred and Susan (Lawson) Combs. Vonda started her working career at the Bank of Lansing, then moved to the Michigan Road Builders Association before starting a job as an administrative assistant at the Michigan Department of Education. Her work brought her incredible joy and satisfaction. Her work brought her great satisfaction. Vonda also had a great love and compassion for the dogs she had in her life and was a strong supporter of the Capital Area Humane Society, the Humane Society of the United States, as well as several environmental groups.
Should anyone wish to make a donation to any of those organizations in memory of Vonda, this would be greatly appreciated.
Outside of work, Vonda was known for her beautiful jewelry collections as well as her array of dolls. She loved to read, especially historical fiction, and she was a gifted writer. She treasured annual trips to Stratford, Canada to take in as many plays and performances as time would allow.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Vonda will be lovingly remembered by the group of friends who became her family: Diane Hammond, Carol Hebert, Elizabeth Reeves, Patty Salyers, Elida Glade, Rebecca Wartella, and Tara Keenan.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
