

Walter Lee Bennefield, III, 28, of Lansing, Michigan, formerly of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away March 16, 2014. Walter was born January 20, 1986 in Lansing, Michigan to Walter Lee Bennefield, Jr. and Elisa R. Smith. He attended Averill Elementary School, and Northeast Middle School and Northside High School in Jackson, TN. Walter was a technician at Budget Tire and owner of Blades of Grass Lawn Care Service.
Walter will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and love for life. He took great pleasure in making others laugh. In his leisure time, Walter enjoyed swimming, eating seafood and Mexican cuisine, attending concerts, car shows, movies, and bowling. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving to cherish Walter’s memory are his parents, Walter (Kimberly) Bennefield, Jr. and Elisa Granito; siblings: Lashay Bennefield, Seray Bennefield, Brandon Bennefield, Quelar Smith, and Tevin Smith; daughters, Aaliyah and Desirae Bennefield; sons, Walter Bennefield, IV and Markel Bennefield; grandmother, Queen Foster; grandmother, Brenda Owens; grandparents, Walter, Sr. and Tammy Bennefield; great-grandmother, Eddie Lue Weakly; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; girlfriend, Michelle Carter, and her children, Jasmine, Antroy, and Nivia Carter; and special friend, Tenesia Houston. He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Peter Hamilton Weakley, and Joella and Floyd Smith; grandfather, James Earl Smith, Sr.; and cousin, Frederick Turner.
A funeral service will be held Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Lansing Church of God in Christ, 5304 Wise Rd., Lansing, MI 48911. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.
