Wanda Fay Tarver, born on September 5, 1945, in McKenzie, Tennessee, to Archie and Millie Holland, peacefully passed away on November 7, 2023 surrounded by her family. Wanda's life journey took her from the small town of McKenzie, Tennessee to Lansing, Michigan, where she left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Wanda graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing and embarked on a diverse career that showcased her unwavering work ethic and compassionate nature. Throughout her professional life, she contributed her skills to Oldsmobile, Michigan State University, and a local realty office. Beyond the workplace, Wanda devoted herself to nurturing others through her roles in daycare, both in her home and at the Lyons Elementary preschool. Loved by everyone, she was selfless and had a big heart. Despite her stubbornness and worry-wart tendencies, she gave without regard. She found joy in her southern roots, delighting in preparing home cooked southern meals like fried chicken, chicken and dressing, sweets, cookies, and her famous chocolate cake and chocolate pie. She cherished trips back to Tennessee, particularly enjoying visits to Dollywood and the Smoky Mountains.
Wanda's greatest joy and source of pride were her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Tarver, and their three children: Lisa (Tracy) Ostrander, Stacey (Randall) Strouse, and Matt Tarver. Her legacy extends to her cherished grandchildren: Randy Strouse (Amanda), Morgan Ostrander, Madison Ostrander, Emmy Ostrander, Braxton Tarver, and Baylor Tarver. Wanda was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Maivey Strouse, Aiden Strouse, and Waylon Strouse, Kanyon and Kash Smith.
Wanda was a sister to Roy Holland, Charles Holland, Becky McDowell, Marie Hutcherson, Sarah "Ann" Anderson, and special family member, Brooxie Allen. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be carried on by her nieces and nephews, including Nancy (Tom) Thornton, Judy (Dave) Larson, Donna Compton, Larry (Becky) Bouldin, Danny Hutcherson and many other close family members.
Wanda's warm spirit, kind heart, and nurturing soul touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives she enriched. In her favorite Golden Girls voice~Thank you for being a friend~
