
On May 1, 2023 we lost William (Bill) Richard Kahl, 76, a lifelong resident of Lansing, Michigan. He was born to Gilbert and Arlene (Fox) Kahl on December 25th, 1946. He is survived by the love of his life, Rebecca, with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage. He was the hard-working, dedicated father of Christopher and Jonathan, and grandfather of Olivia and Ava.
Bill graduated from O’Rafferty High School in 1965 and served honorably in the United States Navy. He married Rebecca Lee Ruth on August 16, 1975, enjoying 48 years together. Following his military discharge he worked for many years at Tom’s Shop-Rite grocery stores, later ran Mt. Hope Market, moved on to L&L Food Centers, and then retired from Kroger. He enjoyed following Michigan State University and Detroit sports, especially the Detroit Tigers. He was a fan of the Gunsmoke television program and anything western related. He was also an aficionado of military/war history and an avid reader of American history.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Gil and Arlene, his infant son Corey and his brother Doug. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betsy, his brothers Philip, Gary, and Jeffery; his sons Chris (Jessica) and Jon; granddaughters Ava and Olivia; brothers-in-law Douglas Ruth and Daniel (Nancy) Ruth; and many nephews and nieces.
A celebration of his life will be later announced.
