Barbara Cecelia Cross

CROSS, Barbara C. 92, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Hospice House Woodside with loving family at her side. Barbara was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and GiGi, always gentle, supportive and unconditionally loving to all. Born in Brooklyn in 1918, to Claire Foster and Lewis Grant Brownson, she grew up in New York and New Jersey. After graduation from Berkeley-Llewelyn Business School, she worked for IBM where she met her husband Jack. They were married in 1941 and enjoyed 60 years together. Barbara was active in Renet Club and Sagasu Book Club where she made many lasting friendships. She was a descendant of the Nicholas Stillwell family (1603) and a proud 69 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Barbara and Jack were founding members of the Florida Chapter of the Seventh Regiment. She is survived by her 4 children, Barbara (Bob) Spahn, Betsy (Dennis) McBride, John (Sandie) Cross, Stephen (Patricia) Cross; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
