BOWERS, Bettie M., 68, of Largo, FL died September 13, 2010. Bettie was born in Richmond, VA and moved to Largo in 1978 from Nashville, TN. She is Roman Catholic and was a member of Belleair Country Club. Bettie is preceded in death by her twin sister, Barbara McDonnell Rose (2000) and is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ronald E. Bowers, MD; daughters, Kate Novak, Lafayette, LA and Kerry Bowers, Tupelo, MS; sister, Madeleine Schutz, West Palm Beach and grandchildren, Frank, Sarah and Charlie, and 16 nieces and nephews that she held very closely to her through frequent visits and phone conversations. Bettie enjoyed many things such as interior design, and animals and was a remarkable seamstress, but her main interest in life was other people and their welfare. Bettie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. A Celebration of Bettie’s Life will be held 3 pm Saturday at the funeral home chapel.
