

He was born on June 21, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Anita Hartman Dinsmore and Welby Walkling.
Charles earned his GED through the United States Military Department of the Army and went on to build a hardworking and diverse career. Throughout his life, he worked in customer service, retail, cooking, the wood industry, and proudly served in the United States Army. His places of employment included Green Spring Dairy, Hampden Liquor Store, Head Ski, Meatland Grocery, Flagship Restaurant, Edrich Lumber, Kline’s Grocery, the U.S. Military Department of the Army, and Chuckle's Electric.
On July 22, 1967, Charles married the love of his life, Patricia Adele Crowther Walkling.
He was a proud member of the U.S. Veterans Corps and found joy in the simple things in life. Charles was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan, enjoyed attending church, working on word search puzzles, donating clothes and shoes to those in need, and recycling copper and other metals.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Walkling; children, Patricia Irene Walkling Baker and Charles Hilmer Walkling Jr.; his grandchildren, Heather Marie Baker and Meagan Nicolle Baker Wertz; his great-grandchildren, Trey, Kloee, and Bentleigh; and his siblings, William Leroy Walkling Sr. and Sharon Walkling Park.
A funeral service will be held at 3pm on April 18th, 2026 at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
