Christine “Chris” Alexander passed away on February 6, 2024 in her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was 80. If you were blessed enough to know her, you will remember her wit, wisdom and one-liners.
You will also easily recall how special she made you feel through her acts of kindness, way of listening, and contagious smile. Instead of saying “you’re welcome” she would often say “my joy”- and she meant it.
As a young woman she swam competitively and held records at Clearwater High School. As an engineer, she became part of the history of some of the products you have experienced by being involved with the design process of projects including the Gemini project, one of NASA’s first manned space programs, pay phones, security clothing tags, and computer circuit boards.
Later in life she got joy from the fellowship of the Daughters of Penelope, and visiting the Neighborly Center where she was able to exhibit her prowess of almost every genre of trivia.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Alexander “Aleco”. The memories of Chris will always bring joy to her sister Cynthia and husband, Earl; son, Plato and wife, Tassa; and their children Alexia, Macarius, and Lucianna; daughter Anna and husband, Greg; and their sons Levi and Carter.
She probably won’t be missed on Trivia Day at the local Neighborly Center, but at every other moment. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater, and attended services whenever possible at the Mary Magdalene Chapel in Madeira Beach.
To honor her, read a book, play trivia, and strike up a friendly conversation with a stranger. Legacy donations can be made to the Clearwater AHEPA Scholarship Fund or to the Neighborly Senior Care Network.
