Dexter F. Gearheart of Clearwater, Florida passed away on January 9th, 2020. Dexter was born on May 4th, 1935 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to parents Orville Paul and Lucy (Caudill) Gearheart. In 2008, Dexter and his wife, Carol moved to Daytona Beach from Warren, OH and then to Clearwater in 2014. Dexter was a steelworker for Copperweld Steel and a member of the Old Erie Lodge #3 F&AM.
Dexter is predeceased by his parents- Orville and Lucy, and 5 siblings- Bethel Eugene, Herbert, Larry, Marjorie, and Ruthie, and a grandchild- Christopher Coldewey. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years- Carol Gearheart, his children- David (Laurie) Gearheart, and Carol Stefanko, two brothers- Norman (Judy), and Phil (Annie), three sisters- Wilma (Bill) Thompson, Kathy (Tom) Pigott, and Polly (Randy) Pigott, his grandchildren, Rachel (Daniel) Bawor, Mary (Bryan) Edwards, and Jennifer (Jason) Russo, and his great-grandchildren- Silas Bawor, McKenzie Bawor, Kevin Edwards, Isaac Edwards, Riley Russo, and Jax Russo.
Dexter will be missed by all who knew him. He was a strong and caring man, dedicated to his family. His services will be held at Serenity Funeral Home in Largo, FL on Tuesday, 01/14/2020 with a visitation from 1-2pm and funeral service beginning at 2pm, the family will also be hosting a lovely reception after the service for everyone to stay and tell stories about Dexter's life.
