

91, of Belleair Beach, passed away peacefully at his home on February 7, 2021. Don was fortunate to live a long, happy and fulfilling life. He loved his profession, sailing, golf and traveling.
Dr. Eifert was born on a dairy farm in Mason, Michigan in 1929 to Bernice and Raymond Eifert. Grammar school was a one room school for eight grades. Football was his favorite sport in High School and then on to the University of Michigan where he received his Dental Degree. After a two year term of services as a United States Air Force Captain (Dental Corp.) in England, he returned to the University of Michigan for a Master’s Degree in Orthodontics.
Dr. Eifert was one of the first Orthodontists to practice in Clearwater in 1956. Former patients often came up to him with a smile asking “Do you remember me?” He practiced Orthodontics in Clearwater for 28 years and was an adjunct professor in Orthodontics in Gainesville, at the University of Florida for two years. He was a member of the American Board of Orthodontics and received many distinguished awards for his contributions to the profession.
After retirement, Dr. Eifert purchased a landmark motel on Clearwater Beach. He became the proud owner and manager of the Sea Captain Motel, a piece of Clearwater history.
Dr. Eifert is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jil; his four children, Dr. Karen Rose (Vance), Dr. John Eifert (Beth), Robert Eifert (Terry) and James Eifert (Tricia); seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was an amazing father and husband and will be greatly missed. A private service will be held at a later date.
