

McConnell, Edward David 91, of Seminole died Tuesday Oct. 9th at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital. Born July 1st, 1921 in Kingston, NY he was the son of Harry and Lillian Herrick McConnell. Edward attended Columbia University School of Journalism and was a WWII Veteran. Edward was the General Manager of the Florida State University Bookstore and Student Union before retiring in 1984. His hobbies were Civil War, Golf and Bing Crosby. He was a member of the American Legion Post 252, DAV and Seminole Lake Country Club. He received many awards from the National Association of College Stores and was noted as an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his amazing wife of 58 years Joan C. McConnell of Seminole, daughters Claire (Chuck) Burns of Largo and Gail (Mike) Olson-Abrams of Tampa, son Edward M. McConnell of Deerfield Beach, brother H.F. (Robbie) McConnell of Cape Coral, five grandchildren Quinn (Brandi) McConnell of GA., Cara (Scott) Hodson of SC., Charles (Andrea) Olson of Tampa, Cristen Burns of Largo and Chad Olson of Tampa, six great grandchildren, Alyssa, Dylan, Carter, Evan, Kaylynn and Rylee. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, Oct. 20th at the Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel – Serenity Gardens.
