Evelyn was born on February 25, 1936, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard Rex and Nellie Ersa (Scarff) Ericson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Wayne Wieter (July 22, 2009), five sisters – Grace Thompson, Mae Stutzman, Helen Ericson, Betty Barr and one who died in infancy, and four brothers – Edward and Ralph Ericson, and two who died in infancy. She is survived by her sister, Donna Luzadder, of Hannibal, Missouri.
Evelyn was a devoted mother to her children, Kriste Nursey, Dawn Lamm, and Pamela Ehrhardt, and a loving grandmother to Steven, Derek, and Chase, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Evelyn worked at Raytheon in Largo, Florida, as an assembler for 40 years before retiring, where she took great pride in her work and cherished the friendships she formed.
Tending her yard was one of Evelyn’s simple pleasures, a place where she felt content and at home. She also enjoyed visiting Hard Rock Casino, playing the Florida Lottery, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on her teams. Above all, Evelyn cherished time spent with her family and will be remembered for her gentle strength, resilience, independence, and enduring love.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A small family service will be held on December 20, 2025, at Serenity Gardens, Largo, Florida, where she will be laid to rest.
